On Monday after a verdict to drop an attempt to murder and sedition charges was passed by a Panchkula court has put the police probe under the scanner. This has followed dera followers who call themselves 'insan' posting his preaching and spreading his propaganda on Twitter.

53 followers of Dera Sacha Sauda were convicted on August 25, 2017, after the clashes took place in the district after the Dera chief was pronounced guilty in rape cases last year.

There were 10 sedition cases against the dera followers which included Section 121: waging war against the state and Section 122: Collecting arms with an intention of waging war against the Government of India. However, only two cases which have been approved.

One is the case of ‘state vs Surender Dhiman’ wherein the so-called daughter of dera sacha, Honeypreet and other top dera functionaries are the main accused.

The second case is ‘state vs head constable Ajay’ in which Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s security guards are the main accused. They are accused of helping the dera chief in an escape bid.

According to a police source, they haven't received permission from for the imposing sedition charges. Only two cases have received a necessary approval.

The drop of sedition charges came after the state put a hold on approvals for sedition charges, raising the eyebrow on the police probe.
