Washington DC: The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was found to be covered with green algae just a few days after reopening following a $14 million renovation project. The restoration project began after President Donald Trump criticised previous administrations for neglecting the landmark.

The pool’s condition drew widespread criticism from locals, who felt the renovation was not a meaningful use of their tax money. “Making a mess of our Reflecting Pool is a big mistake,” one resident said. Another resident commented, “I’m not crazy about the new design. It seems like they spent $14 million to redo this and just for it to look like this, which doesn’t seem like the best use of taxpayer money.”

Several residents also pointed out that algae accumulation is not a new phenomenon and has occurred for decades, especially during warmer seasons. This development comes just days before the Lincoln Memorial is scheduled to host celebrations for International Yoga Day on June 19. This year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” focuses on promoting physical well-being, flexibility, and healthy lifestyles.
