Of course the Google Pixel smartphone is a real thing. A new video teaser is out that confirms the launch date - 4 October. The smartphone launch invite reveals that the event will begin at 9 am.
However, Google does not want to divulge more details about the smartphone. It seems Google has re-branded its Nexus devices, which will now go by the name of Pixel.
However, with just 15 days to go for the event, the unavoidable leaks and speculations are doing the rounds. Here's what we know so far:
Display
Google is likely to launch two variants of the smartphone depending upon the display size, a 5-inch Pixel and a 5.5-inch Pixel XL. The smaller variant may come with a 1080p resolution while the larger one with a Quad HD display. With two display sizes are likely to be released, it seems Google is all set to take on the released Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Operating System
The Pixel devices are expected to run on Android 7.1 unreleased version of Android Nougat.
Specifications
While there is no official word on the specs sheet, Google is likely to include a 12MP rear camera, 8MP front-facing camera and a support for USB-C. The device is expected to sport a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Pixel will be equipped with a 2770mAh battery and the Pixel XL will get a larger 3450mAh battery capacity.
Pricing
The Pixel XL is rumoured to be priced at $650 which translates roughly to Rs 45,000. A new report by AndroidPolice, citing 'trusted' sources reveals that it is the smaller Pixel smartphone that will carry a starting price of $649 for the 32GB base model.
