Parmeshwar Godrej, 70, wife of Adi Godrej, chairman of Godrej group, passed away at Breach Candy Hospital late on 10 October.
According to reports, Paremeshwar was undergoing treatment for a lung disease she was diagnosed with five years ago. A few days ago, she reportedly contracted pneumonia, which aggravated her condition further.
The late socialite and philanthropist was known for her work in the field of AIDS activism. One of her best known projects is the Heroes campaign that she launched in 2002 along with Hollywood actor Richard Gere.
Tributes poured in for the Godrej family on Twitter. Ex-cricketer and Pakistani politician Imran Khan and former Minister of State with the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications, Milind Deora expressed their condolences to Adi Godrej and family on Twitter:
