Namotel Acche Din smartphone launched at Rs 99, cash-on-delivery available

Just a few months after the Freedom 251 fiasco, and Docoss X1 here is another company selling the world's most affordable smartphone - Namotel Acche Din at Rs 99. Bengaluru-based tech company, Namotel launched the phone at an event on Wednesday.

The main promoter of the company, Madhav Reddy told media that the smartphone is now available for advance booking until 25 May on their official site namotel.com. However, to purchase the smartphone online, buyers will first have to register on bemybanker.com by paying Rs 199. This site will generate a password and user id which will be used to log-in on namotel.com.

Here are its specifications:

  • 4-inch display with 480x800 pixels WVGA resolution
  • Android 5.1 Lollipop OS
  • Packs 1GB RAM
  • Inbuilt memory of 4GB; expandable up to 32GB
  • 2MP main and VGA selfie camera
  • Dual-SIM and 3G connectivity

According to the company, the price of the phone has been slashed to Rs 99 from Rs 2,999. The cash-on-delivery option is also available. However, there will be "nominal delivery charges."

The company has also added a note on its site that says, 'Pictures shown on website is for illustration purposes only'.

The company said that the smartphone is being made under the Make In India initiative. Therefore, the model will be delivered to Aadhar card holders only.
