Ayodhya: Saryu River level above danger mark amid continuous rainfall

Ayodhya: The level of the Saryu River in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya rose above the danger mark on Wednesday due to heavy rainfall, according to Aman Rai Singh, Assistant In-Charge of the Central Water Commission in Ayodhya. He said the water level is continuously rising and being monitored closely. The increase is attributed to continuous rainfall in the hills.

Ganga swells in Varanasi, residents struggle


In Varanasi, residential areas were flooded as the Ganga’s water level rose following heavy rainfall. Locals reported significant problems, including drain water entering their homes. One resident, Mandakini Prakash, expressed concern over the spread of diseases such as dengue. She explained that the water was not from the Ganga but from drains and posed serious health risks.

Transport hit and studies affected

Surender Mishra, another resident, said students’ studies had been impacted, and food preparation had become difficult. Vegetable vendors were unable to reach localities, and the area had not experienced such flooding in three to four years.

Waterlogging reported in Moradabad and Prayagraj

Heavy rainfall led to severe waterlogging in Moradabad, while in Prayagraj, floodwaters entered residential areas as the river crossed the danger mark.

CM Yogi highlights scale of crisis

On Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that 21 districts across the state had been affected by flooding due to heavy rainfall over the past 10 to 12 days. In Auraiya district, the Yamuna River rose above the danger mark of 113 metres, reaching 117 metres.

Relief teams deployed across the state

To support rescue and relief operations, the government has deployed 16 teams of the NDRF, 18 teams of the SDRF, and several units of the PAC across affected districts.
