Jamia Violence: New video emerges that shows Delhi police thrashing students in library [Video]
New CCTV footage has emerged that displays a number of police personnel beating up students at the reading hall of Delhi’s Jamia Millia University on the day violence broke out at the campus following a protest march against the Citizenship Amendment Act.
The video released by Jamia Coordination Committee on social media shows students sitting at university’s library. A man sitting on a desk hides under a table before police enter, another man is seen running around.

Several police personnel in their riot gear on the spur of the moment barge into the library, severely baton charge students as the look for cover. Some students run out but police continue to beat them.
Violence broke at Jamia University on 15th December following a protest march by the university’s students against the Citizenship Amendment Act concluded in a pitched battle with the police, vandalis and torching of vehicles. The police used batons and tear gas to restrain the violence. A student, injured during the clash, lost sight in his left eye.
Police action at jamia had resulted in protests across the country where they voiced opposition against the CAA. Students across the world, including those from Harvard and Oxford, expressed concern over the use of police force at these demonstrations.
