IPL 9: Mumbai Indians lock horns with Sunrisers as both grapple with bad form

Speed News team | Updated on: 10 February 2017, 1:51 IST

As the Indian Premier League starts to gain momentum, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Mumbai Indians find themselves languishing in the bottom half of the table. As we build up to the match, one thing is certain - defeat for either team will mean an extremely poor start to the tournament, and an uphill task to even qualify for the play offs by the end of the group stage.

Mumbai Indians have lost two of their first three matches while Sunrisers Hyderabad are yet to register a win in this season's tournament. The last encounter between the two sides ended in a massive win for Mumbai Indians in the last match of the group stage of the 2015 season, and they will be going into today's match with the confidence of having previously scored one over their opponents.

Key players

Mustafizur Rahman - The young Bangladeshi pace bowler has taken off from where he left in the T20 world cup, and has arguably been the best bowler for the Sunrisers this season. He could cause a dent in the formidable Mumbai Indians batting line up if he is given the ball in the early part of the innings by captain David Warner.

Having already produced moments of magic like the swinging, dipping yorker that floored Andre Russell in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders and coming out with the best figures during the onslaught that the other Sunrisers bowlers faced against Royal Challengers Bangalore, watch out for Mustafizur Rahman in this match against Mumbai Indians.

Krunal Pandya - So far, Krunal Pandya has been in the shadow of his younger brother Hardik. But playing for Mumbai Indians in the last match against Gujrat Lions, he produced a handy performance - 20 runs off 11 balls with the bat and figures of 20 - 1 in four overs with the ball.

With Harbhajan Singh operating from the other end, Pandya's spin could perfectly complement it. He could have a decisive say in which direction the match swings.
