Virat Kohli's deputy Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and opted to bat first which gave Dhawan the license to blast again against an inexperienced bowling lineup.

Shikher Dhawan became the sixth batsman and the first Indian batsman in the history of the Test match to score a hundred before lunch on Day 1 of a Test match. Before Dhawan Victor Trumper, Charlie Macartney, Don Bradman, Majid Khan and David Warner  already achieved this feat.

Shikher Dhawan torned up  and demolarised hefty spin department including Afghanistani Spinner Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, their trump card and mystery spinner.

The left-hander., Dhawan brought hits  his hundred in just 87 balls  which includes 19 boundaries and three sixes after he got a reprieve early on in his innings.

Indian Team opener Murali Vijay in good touch here at Bengaluru as he brings up his 16th Test 50.
