Varun Dhawan to be part of the sequel of Badlapur 2

A different cast from the original was considered earlier but looks like the makers have changed their minds.

It was earlier reported that Badlapur 2 might have a change of protagonist and Deepika Padukone would be replacing Varun from the original film. It was said that Deepika had loved the concept after the producer of the film, Dinesh Vijan had a meeting with her. But it is said that the script didn't meet her expectations.

The sources say, "Varun has signed two big films, one is Shoojit Sircar’s next and the other one is the sequel to Badlapur. This film will be directed by Sriram Raghavan again.”

The actor is also in talks with Sriram for his next film. “Though the actor enjoys his commercial successes like Badrinath Ki Dulhania, he loves to tread the dark, edgy genre and is keen to be a part of Badlapur 2 script again,” adds the source. The sequel will be based in Badlapur but it will have a different story altogether. There are chances that the makers might repeat Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Huma Qureshi from the original but Yami Gautam won’t be a part of the film.

After filming his next with Ayushmann Khurrrana and Tabu, Sriram is expected to start shooting for Badlapur 2 early next year.
