Since the competition is tough, the makers of a film make great efforts to extract as much profit from their filmas possible. And probably that is the raeson why the price of their film is quite high and their exhibitors price the ticket of the movie at such a large amount especially when it comes to films like Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, Sultan, Jab Harry Met Sejal etc.

Gone are the times when the ticket was priced at Rs 150. A ticket priced at Rs.300 is quite normal these days where there are multiplexes that sell at rates above Rs 1000.

The most premium theatre in India is the PVR Director’s Cut where the costliest tickets are available. A leading entertainment daily quoted Exhibitor and distributor, Akshaye Rathi as saying, “These ticket prices also include the charges of the premium services that the multiplexes provide to you. So don’t be surprised to see such high prices, but then again, there will be other cinemas that will provide you with a cheaper option. However, having said that, this exorbitant pricing is not for milking the audience but for maximising the profit before piracy kicks in. Rs 900 per ticket plus popcorn, coke and conveyance is too much to spend for a few people. But having said that, the people who want to see the film, will watch it.”
