This week's Bollywood releases, Raman Raghav 2.0 and Junooniyat, recorded disastrous openings at the Box Office.
Raman Raghav 2.0, directed by Anurag Kashyap, was expected to record decent collections on its opening day. However, the film failed to meet expectations. The opening day collections of Raman Raghav 2.0 are around Rs 1.15 crore - with the maximum collections coming in from multiplexes in Delhi and Mumbai.
Junooniyat also failed to record a good start at the ticket window as the film collected around Rs 90 lakhs on its opening day. The average occupancy for Raman Raghav and Junooniyat was in the range of 10-12% throughout the day. Both films showed no signs of growth as the day progressed.
On the other hand, Independence Day: Resurgence recorded a fair opening as the film collected approximately Rs 3.75 crore. The word of mouth surrounding the Hollywood film is negative and the film may not trend well during its lifetime run.
Adding to the competition is Diljit Dosanjh's comic caper, Sardaarji 2, which embarked onto a record breaking start at the Box Office. The film recorded near 100% occupancy in Punjab and is looking to set an opening day record.
