It's almost as if the Deepika Padukone Bollywood knows today and Prakash Padukone's daughter, who starred in a 2006 music video opposite Himesh Reshammiya, are two different people.
Many called her lucky after she bagged a plum Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om in 2007. However, Deepika Padukone stunned everyone by bagging the Filmfare best debut award for the film.
She went on to sign films like Bachna Ae Haseeno and Lafangey Parindey under the YRF camp and worked with Akshay Kumar in Chandni Chowk to China and Desi Boyz. Deepika has also been a part of almost all the Bollywood hits of the last two years - including Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express, Ram Leela, Race 2 and Happy New Year.
What's more, Deepika's performances in these films have won critical and public acclaim.
In 2015, the actress explored a number of varied roles - including a concerned daughter in Piku, a muse in Tamasha, and a historic character reimagined in Bajirao Mastani.
While Piku won applause, Deepika's Bajirao Mastani managed to draw more crowds than the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer Dilwale - one of the year's biggest clashes at the Box Office.
If Deepika can go from this
in under a decade, we can't wait for years of solid performances from this star.
Deepika has had a stellar year. And going by the excitement over the recent unconfirmed reports about her signing on to be a part of Vin Diesel's XXX franchise, Deepika might just have an exciting year ahead.
Here's wishing the lady a very happy 30th birthday!
