Psychedelic rock with Indian overtones: Here's what makes Parvaaz tick
Over six years ago, these guys appealed to the better side of generous music lovers and got themselves crowdfunded. Today, Bangalore based psychedelic rock band of four - two from Kashmir and two from 'luru - Parvaaz is well on its way to becoming the next big thing.
The first performers at the second day of Udaipur World Music Festival's Gandhi Ground venue, Parvaaz set the bar pretty high for the night. The band seeks inspiration from different cultures, incorporates different languages like Urdu and Kashmiri.
But when asked if Kashmir is a significant part of the dark mood that's created with their music, Parvaaz deny it."[There's no point] being pretentious [and appropriating] the [Kashmir] situation that's going on over there," lead vocalist Khalid Ahmed told Catch.
"I guess it comes naturally to us..." he added.
Parvaaz also promises a new album by the end of this year. "We're working on two singles and two videos, yeah," they said, before quickly adding, "Oh and an album, yeah, by the end of this year!"
