Indian shooter Gurpreet Singh failed to qualify for the final round of the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event at the Rio Olympics on 13 August.

Gurpreet finished seventh, just outside the six qualifying spots, with a cumulative 581 points with 24 inner 10s at the Olympic Shooting center.

The 29-year-old, who was ranked 10th, scored 289 points with 10 inner 10s after the first qualifying stage. He scored 292 points in the second stage.

The armyman had qualified for Rio Olympics after bagging India's fifth quota in shooting when he finished fourth at the Munich World Cup in June 2015.

At 2010 Commonwealth Games, Gurpreet won three medals - two gold and a bronze. He won gold in the 10m air pistol and 25m rapid fire pistol pair events and bronze in the 25m rapid fire pistol individual event.
