India's wait for the elusive medal shows no signs of abating as the Rio Olympics continued into Day 10. Track and field athletes triple jumper Renjith Maheshwary and 200m sprinter Srabani Nanda failed to qualify for the finals in their respective events on Monday, 15 August.

30-year-old Renjith, hailing from Kerala, failed to replicate or better his personal best of 17.30m in the triple jump, finishing a disappointing 30th out of total 48 participants at the Olympic Stadium.

He managed a leap of 15.80m in his first attempt before registering 16.13m in his second jump. The final nail in the coffin was hammered when Renjith made a final leap of 15.99m which confirmed his elimination from the prestigious quadrennial event.

In the women's 200m event, Srabani failed to progress through to the semifinals after she finished sixth in her heat with a timing of 23.58s in the first round. Overall, she was 55th out of 72 sprinters.
