Asian Games Gold medallist Tejinder Singh Toor’s father dies before seeing son's 'Gold Medal'

Asian Games shot putter Tejinder Pal Singh Toor made the entire nation proud in shot at Jakarta in Palembang. failed to fulfill his ailing father's last wish, which was to hold his son's gold medal that he won for the country.

However, Tajinderpal Singh Toor dealt with a massive personal loss as his father Karam Singh passed away, who was fighting with cancer for a long period of time.


Athletics Federation of India issued their condolences to Tajinderpal over his father’s demise and wrote “AFI is in deep shock.We received Tejinder Toor, our Asian Shot Put Champion Gold Medalist at the airport last night & as he was on his way to hotel, sad news of his father’s demise reached us. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Our heartfelt condolences to Tajinder and his family."

Tajinderpal Toor's gold medal was the eigth for India in men's shot put in the history of the Asian Games. He threw the iron ball to 20.75m to win the gold and set a national record as well. He bettered the six-year-old record of 20.69m in the name of Om Prakash Karhana.
