Nirav Modi’s uncle Mehul Choksi, fugitive jeweller left Antigua and moved to another country, said agencies

The major development comes to light in the PNB fraud case that the key accused Mehul Choksi once again moved to another country. Yes, Nirav Modi's uncle, fugitive jeweller Mehul, who earlier, believed to be in Antigua has left the Carribean country now, said agencies. The key accused Mehul and his nephew Nirav were the main accused who involved in the Rs 13,600 crore scam case and after the scam come to light both were on run. Recently, the news comes to light that Mehul has taken the citizenship of Antigua but now once again he moved to another country to save himself.

According to the reports of Indian Express, ‘We are trying to ascertain where he is. But we are certain he is not in Antigua anymore’, an officer involved in the probe said. However, both the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) are involved in the PNB fraud case.


Earlier on Wednesday, CBI had demanded the details about Choksi from the concerned authorities in Antigua. The authorities of the Carribean country released an official statement about Nirav’s uncle that he got the Antigua’s citizenship in January, just before the PNB scam come to light.

On 23rd July, the US Department of Justice, in a communication routed through the CBI, wrote to the Enforcement Directorate that it had not recorded the details of Mehul Choksi’s movements, but its “assessment is that he has flown out (of the USA) on an Antiguan passport”.
