Andaz Apna Apna is one of Bollywood's best loved comedies. The film immortalised Salman Khan and Aamir Khan as the lovable Prem and Amar. Twenty two years after the release of the comic caper, Phantom Productions are set to remake the cult classic.

According to reports, the production house has bought the remake rights of the film from Preeti Sinha, the daughter of producer Vinay Sinha - who was one of the major financers of Andaz Apna Apna.

Phantom has already locked the script, which has been reworked by Vivek Soni and Hardik Mehta. The latter bagged a National Award this year for his non-feature film on kite flying in Ahmedabad titled Amdavad Ma Famous.

The production house is keen to explore Bollywood comedies, a major reason why they have decided to remake the Rajkumar Santoshi directorial.

The film will be directed by one of the two Phantom in-house directors, Vikas Bahl and Vikramaditya Motwane. The makers are looking to cast two relatively fresh faces for the comedy. An official announcement will be made towards the end of 2016. Andaz Apna Apna 2.0 will go on floors by December 2016.
