Box Office: Vijay's Theri breaks Ajith's Vedalam record by a huge margin

Vijay's Theri has recorded phenomenal response at the Box Office worldwide. On its opening day, the Vijay-starrer fetched Rs 29 crore worldwide, from 1,200 screens.

With this impressive opening, Theri has broken Thala Ajith's Vedalam record of Rs 23 crore by a huge margin - news that is sure to send fans of the actor into celebratory mode. 

What's more, Theri has also helped Ilayathalapathy break his own record, surpassing the opening day numbers of Kaththi (Rs 26 crore) and Puli (Rs 20 crore) quite comfortably.

Theri film now stands at the seventh spot in the list of all-time highest South Indian openers after Bahubali, Sardar Gabbar Singh, Lingaa, I, Srimanthudu and Endhiran.

Theri has also done fabulous business at international markets as well. The film minted Rs 2.75 crore at the US Box Office, Rs 1.20 crore at the UK Box Office and Rs 2 crore from remaining overseas markets, including UAE and France.
