Last Friday saw the release of two major films at the Kerala Box Office - the much-awaited family entertainer Jacobinte Swargarajyam and the Hollywood fantasy adventure The Jungle Book. As expected, both films emerged clean winners at the Box Office.

Here's Catch's round-up of the Kerala Box Office this week:

1) Jacobinte Swargarajyam

Vineeth Sreenivasan’s fourth directorial venture opened to a massive response at the ticket window. The director retained his Thattathin Marayathu actor Nivin Pauly as the main lead of the film.

The film has collected a huge Rs 4.46 crore on its opening weekend and has become the fifth highest weekend opener of the year. The film minted Rs 1.32 crore on Friday, Rs 1.49 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.65 crore on Sunday - leading to a fabulous opening weekend of Rs 4.46 crore, which is extraordinary considering the film has released on just 80 screens in Kerala. But, the good news for Noble Babu Thomas, producer of Jacobinte Swargarajyam is that the film started getting extra screens due to the huge rush and public demand, especially from family audiences.

The successful opening and positive reviews ensured a long run for the family entertainer and a hat trick of success for the Vineeth-Nivin duo as their previous films Thattathin Marayathu andMalarvadi Arts Club were also box office hits. The film is also a big hit at the Chennai Box Office by minting Rs 6.80 lakh from just 30 screens.

2) King Liar

After the massive Rs 6.52 crore first week collection, the comedy entertainer added another Rs 1.89 crore in its second week. The film's total collection after the second weekend is a stupendous Rs 8.41 crore. The hilarious trailer and Dileep’s unbeatable comic timing has worked favourably for the film.
