50 days of Mersal: 6 new records set by Thalapathy Vijay blockbuster

Thalapathy Vijay's recent release Mersal has successfully completed 50 days theatrical run at the Box Office on Wednesday. The action thriller, which had released on the auspicious occasion of Diwali has set the Box Office on fire from day 1 across the cinemas worldwide. Upon it's release, Mersal had to face many criticism due to the GST dialogues mouthed by the Tamil superstar in the film. However, Mersal had managed to overcome all the hurdles and emerged as an all-time blockbuster at the Box Office.

1) On its opening day, Mersal emerged as the all-time highest opener at the Chennai Box Office. The Thalapathy Vijay starrer had broken the records set by Rajinikanth starrer Kabali and Thala Ajith's Vivegam to do so.

2) At the Kerala Box Office, Mersal had emerged as the all-time non-Malayalam highest grosser by beating the 2-year record set by Shankar, Vikram film I. On its opening day in Kerala, Mersal crossed the lifetime collections of Thala Ajith's Vivegam and Shah Rukh Khan's Raees as well.

3) Mersal is the only non-Malayalam film to cross 50-theatrical days at the Kerala Box Office. The Atlee directorial also emerged as the all-time second biggest opener in Kerala after the Malayalam dubbed version of Baahubali 2. While the SS Rajamouli - Prabhas blockbuster tops the spot with 6.27 crore, Vijay starrer bags the second spot by minting Rs. 6.11 crore at the Kerala Box Office.

4) At the Tamil Nadu Box Office, Mersal emerged as the third Rs. 100 crore grosser. The film also became the fastest Rs. 100 crore grosser in Tamil Nadu. In fact, on its opening week itself, Mersal had crossed the lifetime collections of Thala Ajith's recent film Vivegam.

5) Mersal is currently at number five in among the list of all-time highest grossing films of South India. And Thalapathy Vijay is the only the third South film actor after Rajinikanth and Prabhas to have a Rs. 250 crore grosser.

6) With Mersal, Thalapathy Vijay emerged as the top actor with maximum Rs. 100 crore grossers at the Box Office.
