Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has refused to accept the water train offered by the central government to Bundelkhand, which is undergoing a drought-like condition. According to the Chief Minister, the area is not facing a water crisis like Maharshtra's Latur district.

The UP government has reportedly also said that in case they need water they would inform the railways.

A water train reached Jhansi on 5 May and was scheduled to reach Mahoba area of Bundelkhand on 6 May.

Union Railway minster Suresh Prabhu took to twitter to address the situation. He said, "Bundelkhand is suffering water shortage. We are working on supplying water through trains, putting Logistics in place to help our brethren."

According to a media report, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to talk about the severe drought and water crisis in Bundelkhand, in New Delhi on 7 May.
