Sonia Gandhi cuts short roadshow; returns to Delhi on doctor's advice
Congress president Sonia Gandhi has arrived in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's constituency, to kickstart the party's election campaign for the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Sonia's roadshow in Varanasi will be the second major show of strength in the poll-bound state after party vice-president Rahul Gandhi's interaction with Congress party workers on 31 July.The roadshow will begin from Kachahari during which the party leaders will cover a distance of around eight kilometres in three hours. The show will conclude at Englishiyaline where she is expected to deliver a short speech and garland the statue of former Union minister, the late Kamlapati Tripathi, reported the Hindustan Times.
Sonia Gandhi will also offer prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath temple later in the day.
