A leopardess suffered serious injuries and succumbed to her wounds after getting entangled in a barbed wire at Virpur area of Uttarakhand on 14 September.
The 4-year-old leopardess had got entangled in the barbed-wire over a septic tank in Cantt area in Birpur yesterday, they said.
On being informed by the locals the forest officials rescued the animal with the help of wildlife experts, they said.
The injured feline was then taken to the Rescue centre of Mussoorie Deer Park where it died during treatment, the officials said.
Though, prima facie it appears that the animal died due to heavy internal bleeding, the reason behind its death would only be ascertained after post mortem.
