Earthquake in Andaman: 4.8 magnitude earthquake jolts Andaman Islands Region

An earthquake measuring a magnitude of 4.8 struck the Andaman Islands Region on Monday morning, the US Geological Survey reported. The tremors were felt at 6:44 am. The depth of the earthquake on the Andaman Islands was 95 kilometres.

Last month, mild tremors were felt in Andaman islands in the early hours on February 13. Later, on February 28, an earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale hit the Nicobar Islands during wee hour. No reports of casualties or injuries were received. The mild tremors were felt 5.30 AM, the Indian Meteorological Department was quoted as informing by news agency ANI.
