A 21-year-old architecture student ransacked the Worli Police Station after she and her friends were detained for rash driving in Mumbai on 16 June.

According to a report in Mid Day, the girl had rammed into a divider and was accompanied by three of her friends when the incident took place.

The girl physically abused the officers by slapping, kicking and hurling abuses at them while her friends tried to hold her back. The daily reported that the girl also damaged police property by pulling the wires out of a computer, breaking window panes and damaging the mobile phones of officers in the police station.

"She ransacked the whole police station and hit our cops. We got their custody for a day, after which they were released on bail. We are making a tight case against the accused," Mid Day quoted Senior Police Inspector Vinay Kulkarni as saying.

The group was sent for medical examination that confirmed that the girl and her friends were under the influence of alcohol.

They have been booked under Sections 279, 332, 353, 427 and 34 of the IPC.
