The TMC is also set to dislodge CPI(M) state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra from Narayangarh, where the Left has ruled for 25 years.

The BJP and its allies look set for a landslide victory in Assam, with the three-pronged alliance on course to win close to 80 of the 126 seats. The biggest shock so far is AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal trailing by over 14,000 votes from the South Salmara constituency to Congress' Wazed Ali Choudhury. Congress, on the other hand, is unlikely to reach half of the 78 seats it won in 2011.
