In a tragic incident, seven people were killed and 70 injured in a stampede at the Ujjain Kumbh Mela on 5 May.

The injured have been taken to the hospital. However, Ujjain Kumbh Mela authorities have denied that a stampede had caused the deaths.

The Times of India quoted the authorities as saying that a huge tent - built for the mela - fell on the devotees after it collapsed due to strong wing and heavy rainfall.

Officials assured that security arrangements had been made for the hordes of people visiting the month-long Kumbh mela.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to share his anguish over the unfortunate incident.
