Robbers snatch mobile phone from IAS officer’s husband; UP police left clueless

A shameful moment for Uttar Pradesh Police, where robbers looted the husband of a woman IAS officer in Meerut district.

The victim identified as Saurabh Bansal who has been targeted by robbers when he was out for an evening walk in the Meerut cantonment area on Wednesday.


According to reports, the bike-borne robbers robbed the IAS officer’s husband near the Topkhana area.

After the incident, police scanned CCTV cameras installed in the area but didn’t get any clue about robbers, according to a report in Hindi daily Dainik Jagran.

As Saurabh reached near Topkhana Football ground, the bike-borne robbers snatched his mobile phone. The victim immediately raised an alarm but the accused sped away from the spot.

When police informed about the loot, the cops immediately launched an investigation but left clueless.

Meanwhile, the IAS officer’s husband filed a complaint against unidentified persons at the Lal Kurti police station.

According to timesnownews.com, Meerut SP City Dr Akhilesh Narayan Singh said police have scanned the CCTV footage of the area but they haven’t got any clue yet.

However, police assured that the culprits would be nabbed soon.

Besides UP Police, a Quick Reaction Team (QRT) of the army also posted nearby. The report suggested that police post in the area remains empty despite the posting of a sub-inspector.
