A Luis Suarez hattrick sealed the deal for Barcelona on 14 May, as the Catalan giants clinched their 24th La Liga title with a 3-0 win over Granada away from home, in their last game of the season.

With Real Madrid just a point behind, Barcelona needed a win to ensure the title.

At the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes, Suarez scored in the 22nd minute to give his side an early lead, and then doubled the team's lead 16 minutes later with a well-executed finish.

With Real Madrid leading 2-0 against Deportivo La Coruna in the other game, Barcelona continued to pile the pressure on Granada in the second half.

Luis Suarez scored again in the 86th minute to take his La Liga goal tally to 40, thereby ensuring this season's Pichichi trophy, which is given to the highest scorer in the league, and a consecutive league title for Barcelona.

Earlier, Cristiano Ronaldo had scored a brace in the first half away at Deportivo to seal a 2-0 victory for Real Madrid. Despite the win, Los Blancos finished second in the league with 90 points, one point behind the champions.

On the other hand, Atletico Madrid finished their league campaign with a 2-0 win over Celta Vigo. With the win, Diego Simerone's side ended the season with 88 points, in a respectable 3rd position.

Atletico and Real are set to face off in the final of the UEFA Champions League on 28 May at the San Siro Stadium, in a rematch of the 2014 final.
