JEE, NEET 2021 Exams: Here’s what official has to say about date of exams

Amid the Coronavirus pandemic, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will hold a review meeting to take a decision on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) (Main) exams.

However, it is necessary to conduct the national-level medical entrance and engineering entrance exams as they will allow students to take admissions to the top medical and engineering institutes of the country.

Unlike board exams, these entrance exams cannot be cancelled because students take admission after qualifying for these exams. Therefore, policymakers are trying to figure out a conducive time to conduct these entrance examinations.

According to India Today reports, a senior government official said, “The government is aware that the entrance examinations need to be conducted. Unlike the board exams, they cannot be cancelled because college seats are filled up on a competitive test basis.”

However, there is no surety when the exams will be held as this may lead to undue anxiety among aspirants. The government is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in the country.

The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main exam is being held four times a year. The first phase was conducted in February while the second phase was held in March.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the JEE Advanced exam, which is held for admission to the IITs, has also been postponed. Earlier, the exam was scheduled to be conducted on July 3, the revised dates will be announced after the JEE Main exam is conducted.

Earlier, Union Education Ministry announced that the final decision on NEET 2021 entrance exam will be taken only after reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the country. While JEE Main 2021 exam would be released by the NTA for both sessions at least 15 days before the entrance exam.

Meanwhile, students should keep their eyes on the official website of NTA to know the details about NEET 2021 and JEE Main 2021 entrance exam.

As per media reports, NEET 2021 entrance exam details are likely to be released in the next two weeks or before July 15.
