The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Trichy has increased their overall seats intake from 110 to 180 from the academic year 2016-17.

Seats have already been filled for the Post Graduate Programme in Management. Soon the waiting list will be announced.

According to Abhishek Totawar chairperson, placement and external relations, and assistant professor (organizational behaviour and HRM) said, "This will take the total strength to over 300 as against present strength of 107 students in the second year and 25 students for fellow programme in management (FPM) for doctoral candidates for this academic year," he said to TOI.

Regarding the faculty strength Totawar said that there are 35 faculty members and the institute has a student-faculty ratio of 8:1 which is better than 10:1 which is suggested by the university grants commission and ministry of human resource development norms.

IIM Trichy is currently functioning from its temporary campus at the National Institute of Technology - Trichy and is likely to move to its new 175-acre campus at Chinna Suriyur village on the Trichy-Pudukkottai road in August 2016.
