Team India saw a sad exit from 2019 World Cup after New Zealand won the match by 18 runs to reach their second consecutive World Cup final. Indian team dominated the World Cup before the semi-final match as they lost just one game in the preliminary stage. Team India was looking good in the semi-final as well after Indian bowler’s restricted the Blackcaps to 239.

But in the second innings, the dream of Indian fans was shattered after India lost four early wickets as New Zealand bowlers demolished India’s top order batsmen. The powerful trio of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli who did the bulk of scoring in the league stage were dismissed for just 1 run each. The momentum shifted in New Zealand’s favour as they went on to win the match.

Indian opening batsman Wasim Jaffer has now questioned Virat Kohli’s captaincy in white ball cricket after team India’s elimination from World Cup. Jaffer feels that Indian opener Rohit Sharma should lead team India in white-ball cricket. Jaffer on Saturday tweeted, “Is it time to hand over white ball captaincy to Rohit Sharma? I would like him to lead India in the 2023 World Cup.”

Rohit leads Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League and is also the vice-captain of team India and leads them in Virat Kohli’s absence. Under Rohit’s captaincy team India was crowned champion of 2018 Asia Cup held in UAE and won the Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka.
