In the Indian Premier League Season 11, veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will play for Kings XI Punjab. In the auction process that started from Saturday (January 27), Punjab bought him for Rs 7.6 crore. Ashwin was earlier associated with the Chennai Super Kings. On behalf of Chennai, Mahendra Singh Dhoni had said that he wants to see Ashwin once again in the CSK jersey. However, Chennai did not show interest in buying Ashwin in the auction. When selected for Punjab, Ashwin tweeted, “The auction is always a house of casino, I am happy that @lionsdenkxip will be my new home and thank you so much @ChennaiIPL for all the great memories. #IPLAuction”

A total of 578 players will be seen in the auction on January 27-28. There are 244 capped players out of which 62 are Indian players. There are 332 uncapped players, including 34 foreign players. Every franchisee had Rs 80 crore to buy the players this season, but after retaining the players the teams have less money left.

Prior to the auction, Rajasthan and Punjab had the highest amount of Rs 67.5 crore. At the same time, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai had an amount of Rs 47 crores left. Royal Challengers Bangalore has Rs. 49 crores. Hyderabad and Kolkata have Rs 59 crore to buy players.
