Whether it is a cricketer's engagement ceremony or birthday, the Indian sports fraternity can often be seen using social media to convey their regards. But, in Ishant Sharma's case, the lanky seamer got more than just the best wishes on both - his engagement and birthday.

While Rohit Sharma didn't shy away from taking a dig at the Indian speedster on his engagement in June, former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag also found a way to showcase his wit as he wished Ishant in his own style.

Ishant's long and funky hair has always been favourite with Twitter. So when Sehwag took to Twitter, he addressed Ishant with a new nickname.

"Hpy Bdy #BaalWaaleBurjKhalifa @ImIshant Sharma, the best #SharmajiKaLadka, jiske selection Se everyone is super happy," he tweeted.

In June this year, Rohit tweeted: "Welcome to the club @ImIshant congratulations you two. Lekin aaj ke din toh baal katva leta bhai??"

The Indian seam bowler turned 28 on 2 September and his social media timelines were flooded with greetings from both current and former teammates.

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar also conveyed his best wishes to Ishant.

Team India head coach Anil Kumble also joined the chorus to wish the Indian bowler. "Wishing you a very happy birthday @ImIshant God bless!" he wrote on Twitter.

Ishant's teammates Harbhajan Singh and Shikhar Dhawan were not far behind.

After Zaheer Khan's retirement from international cricket, Ishant has been the mainstay of the Indian bowling attack, especially in Tests.

Having made his debut in 2007, Ishant has played 72 Tests and claimed 209 wickets. He has taken eight four-wicket and seven five-wicket hauls.

He also has 115 wickets to his name in one-day International (ODIs) and eight wickets in T20 Internationals (T20s).
