Deepika opens about comparisons with fellow actress Priyanka Chopra

Deepika Padukone will be walking the red carpet for Cannes on May 17 and 18 this year followed by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on May 19 and 20 and Sonam Kapoor on May 21 and 22 The actress unveiled the collection which she will be wearing in the festival this year and said that she will stick to her signature bold lip colours. During media interaction, when Deepika was asked about how some time ago she was mistaken for Priyanka Chopra by International media she says, “Ignorance is Ignorance. I feel bad for them (international press). It is racist. Two people of similar colour are not same people. We should be calling them to educate, instead of encouraging it.”

Deepika has received flak for her look in Met Gala, talking about it she says, “It is all a collective decision, we work as a team, the way we do in films. We work together to create a look. Sometimes you might like what I wear but sometimes you won’t and that is completely fine. I am not dressing for anyone but for myself. So as long as I have fun on the red carpet, nothing else matters.”

When asked about her next assignments in Hollywood and Bollywood she says, “You should expect me in movies in general. I don’t like this distinction between them. The language is different. Reach and visibility is much more. What drives me is the challenges that comes with doing certain films.  That is what I am really looking forward to."
