Ghayal Once Again: Sunny Deol's views on 'actors becoming commodities' make sense

News Agencies | Updated on: 14 February 2017, 5:14 IST

After giving a string of hits like Ghayal, Ghatak, and Darr in the 1990s, actor-filmmaker Sunny Deol says it really bothers him that people, who were actors earlier, have now become "commodities" in the Hindi film fraternity.

"The industry and country have changed so fast. But my belief and thoughts didn't change along. I always thought that acting was basically an art where you are performing. You're picking up subjects and cinema was basically a reflection of the society," Sunny said on the TV show Yaar Mera Superstar, which airs on Zoom.

"But somehow, as time passed by, things changed. It really bothers me that we people who were actors earlier have now become commodities," he added.

Directed by Sunny himself, Ghayal Once Again will continue from where the first version left off. The film is reportedly based on a real-life event in the life of a Mumbai police officer and also stars Soha Ali Khan.

The film is slated to hit the screens on 5 February.
