Emraan Hashmi, anointed Bollywood's on-screen serial kisser, has had a bit of a dry spell since a while. The actor is struggling to come up with a 'hit' at the Box Office. After his last hit, Raaz 3 (2012), the actor has been seen in films like Ek Thi Dayaan, Ghanchakkar, Raja Natwarlal, Ungli, Mr X and Hamari Adhuri Kahani. However, none of these films really worked at the Box Office and the audience reaction was disappointing for the actor.
Almost a year after Hamari Adhuri Kahani, Hashmi will be seen essaying the character of Mohammad Azharuddin, in the cricketer's biopic, Azhar. Unlike Hashmi's last few releases, Azhar has a positive buzz around it and is keenly-awaited by the trade and audience alike.
Th film could well be a hard-hitting commercial potboiler as the controversies of Azharuddin's life make for a perfect Hindi film! As cricket fever is sweeping the nation with back to back T20 tournaments and the upcoming IPL matches, curiosity about the film is on the rise.
Hashmi has trained with the former Indian Captain to get the nuances of his character right. Apart from the body language, the actor also praticed cricket.
