Wazir: Film promotion is not just about dancing at the malls, says Vidhu Vinod Chopra

Dancing at public places and malls for promoting a film has become a trend of sorts, but it's not something filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra is willing to resort to, especially with an actor like megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

"Today, it is almost a trend that to promote a film, you have to dance in malls. Otherwise people will barely notice that a film is seeing a release soon. But from where we come, I feel weird to ask Mr Bachchan to participate in a promotion in this manner.

"I can't make him dance in a public place for the sake of promoting my film," said the Wazir producer.

Disclosing his strategy for the film's marketing, he said:

"I am screening Wazir for the media. I don't think anyone promotes a film in this manner."

"I've shown the entire film to the 60-70 programmers who distribute films in India. They were surprised to learn that the full movie will be screened for them. Whoever came for interviewing the stars Wazir, were shown 15 minutes of the film as well."

On being asked if this is a sign of confidence, he quipped: "We are Munnabhai, whatever we do, we do it with full of confidence."

Featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar, Wazir is co-written by Chopra and Abhijat Joshi. It is directed by Bejoy Nambiar.
