Following the murder of Kannada progressive thinker and noted scholar MM Kalburgi, another rationalist and Kannada writer KS Bhagwan received a life threatening letter.

In the letter the following was written "Bastard, don't relax thinking you are safe. Haavina Dvesha 12 years. 3 successful. Next you. " In the next line it states "Will never miss the target. No police security can save you when we come. We know how to do. Count your days."

Speaking about the threat letter Bhagwan said "I was not at home when the letter came this afternoon. My family received it. After reading the letter, written in English, the family informed the police, and currently, it is with them."

The NDTV has reported that he also stated that he is not deterred by such threats, and said "it shows utter ignorance on the part of those who wrote the letter. They wouldn't have even read a page of my writing. I write on the basis of my research. If they have objections about it, they can always oppose it in a civilised way."

Recently a Bajrang Dal local activist was arrested in Dakshina Kannada district a day after Kalburgi's murder on 30 August for allegedly posting remarks on Twitter threatening Bhagwan for his 'derogatory' remarks on the Bhagavad Gita.

Following the threat letter, the cops will enhance the security cover at Bhagwan's residence. Presently, three constables were posted at his residence. Also visitors are frisked with handheld metal detectors before being allowed in. Now an officer of assistant sub-inspector rank will be deployed with additional armed personnel.
