Google's new update for Street View app allows posting 360-degree photos to Maps

Google has released an update for its mobile Street View app for iOS and Android.

According to The Next Web, the app now allows the users to contribute their own 360-degree photos to Google Maps.

The app uses Google's Photo Sphere technology, but the app also now supports dedicated 360-degree cameras.

Also, a new 'Explore' section allows the users to see explore both official content from Google, and images contributed by the public.

The new functionality helps Google expand its Street View content without sending out more 360-degree camera rigs.

The company did not specify how the images will be curated.
