Despite a sting operation and a flyover collapse in the heart of Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee will retain power in West Bengal, predicts ABP Ananda. The poll gives a comfortable lead of 178 seats to the incumbent party.

The BJP, which had tried to attack Mamata Banerjee on all grounds from Sharada chit fund scam to Narada sting where top TMC leaders were caught taking bribes could manage only one seat.

The Left-Congress combine together muster 110 seats. In 2011, the Congress and Left separately had 42 and 40 seats, respectively. Going by ABP Ananda's predictions, the coming together of these two parties has helped in slightly improving their overall tally.

West Bengal has 294 Assembly seats. In 2011, in a historic win, TMC had wrested power from the Left, which had ruled the eastern state for over three decades.
