Bulandshahr gangrape: Minor victim moves SC, seeks FIR against Azam Khan

The 14-year-old girl who was gangraped in Bulandshahr last month has moved the Supreme Court, seeking an FIR against Samajwadi Party leader and UP Minister Azam Khan and erring police officers.

The victim also requested that the case be transferred to Delhi and that she be provided with a court-monitored probe, schooling, security and rehabilitation.

Azam Khan had previously said that the 29 July gangrape of the mother-daughter duo in Bulandshahr could be a political conspiracy aimed at defaming the state government ahead of the 2017 Assembly elections.

"We must also probe whether this entire controversy is a move by some Opposition elements to defame the government. People who want to come to power may be stooping this low for political interests," the minister was quoted by the media as saying.

Under attack from Opposition parties over the sliding law and order situation in the state, the Samajwadi Party government had suspended Bulandshahr Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vaibhav Krishan for dereliction of duty.

Six others, including Superintendent of Police (city) Rammohan Singh, Circle Officer (Sadar) Himanshu Gaurav and SHO Ramsen Singh of Kotwali Dehat, were also suspended.
