Amit Shah-Kejriwal meeting: Drones to be used to check rumour mongering in violence-hit Delhi

The high level meeting of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister discussed the rampant violence that has shaken the national capital over the last few day resolved to put an end to rumours and also use drone and electronic survellance to calm the violence.

Officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi government and Delhi Police have also opted to have better coordination between Delhi Police and local MLAs of the violence hit areas.


According to sources authorities will now use drones and electronic surveillance at the protest site to identify malefactors. Close monitoring of social media will also be examine rumor mongering.

The meeting, attended by Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Arvind Kejriwal, Commissioner of Police Amulya Patnaik and others, also resolved that workers of political parties should come together to restore peace in Delhi and peace committees be reactivated in all areas.

According to a source, all those attending the meeting stressed that rumour mongering had to be ended.

The leaders stated that police-MLA coordination has to be intensified and workers of various political parties should come together so that peace is restored.

Among those who attended the meeting were Congress’ Subhash Chopra and the BJP’s Ramvir Bidhuri and Manoj Tiwari.

The meeting was convened in order to discuss the current ball game in the national capital following violence in northeast Delhi over the amended citizenship act.
