After the brutal lynching of Mohammad Akhlaq over beef rumours triggered communal tension in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh, the local BJP unit has now passed a resolution to conduct a 'mahapanchayat'.
The mahapanchayat will demand the release of the six arrested as well as stringent action against those involved in the alleged cow slaughter.
Vichitra Tomar, local BJP leader said that the party will also condemn the Samajwadi Patry government in the state for its inaction. According to Tomar, the BJP claims that the accused are innocent.
In the mahapanchayat, the BJP will also demand legal action against those who are engaged in cow slaughter, as it is meant to incite the sentiments of Hindus.
The party also accused the SP for administrative failure which led to the incident. They said the incident could have been averted had the government acted on time in the matter.
The local BJP unit will hold the mahapanchayat on 11 October. The police has registered a case against all the accused under sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
