No, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not been declared the best PM in the world by UNESCO.
The UNESCO does a number of important things, but rating heads of state across the world is not one of them. However, not many seemed to know this, as the viral message "Congratulations @narendramodi sir for being declared the best PM in the world by @UNESCO" began to make its rounds on social media this week.
Many took to Twitter to congratulate PM Modi over the 'announcement'.
India's most successful cueist, Pankaj Advani, also fell prey to the hoax.
Congratulations @narendramodi sir for being declared the best PM in the world by @UNESCO #ProudIndian @PMOIndia

Little did the 15-time World Billiards and Snooker champion know that his post would make him the butt of jokes on Twitter.

However, the ace cueist shot down all his haters with one well-timed response. Advani, who is the recepient of the Arjuna Award, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna as well as the Padma Shri (2009), had this to say:
I know I got my facts wrong but this apparently gets more attention than when I win a WORLD TITLE!! 🙄🙄 🙏🏻 https://t.co/vWeBwdeuaO

While Advani may have gotten the last laugh here, Twitter wasn't so kind to the others who had contributed in making the 'Modi Best PM: UNESCO' message a viral phenomenon.
Here's our pick of some of the funniest tweets on the hoax:
UNESCO has declared Ashutosh as the best disciple of Wren & Martin.

Here's a pretty interesting little-known fact – back in 1978, @UNESCO had declared padosi Sharma ji's son as the best beta in the world.

Interestingly, this hoax message comes a few years after the message "Jana Gana Mana declared best anthem by UNESCO" spread like wildfire. You do know what the UNESCO does, don't you? This should help.
