Pakistan man mistakes Neeraj Chopra for Ashish Nehra.

While javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra’s friendship is something which the internet cannot stop talking about, a tweet relating to these athletes has become the focus of all discussions on the internet.

Pakistan’s political commentator Zaid Zaman Hamid tweeted about Nadeem’s win and praised him for his performance. He also mentioned in the tweet how he ‘destroyed’ Olympian Neeraj Chopra to clinch the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

However, instead of mentioning Neeraj Chopra’s name in the congratulatory tweet, Hamid confused him with former Indian cricketer Ashish Nehra and wrote his name instead.

“And what makes this victory even more sweeter is the fact that this Pakistani athlete has destroyed Indian javelin throw hero Ashish Nehra. In the last competition, Ashish had defeated Arshad Nadeem. What a sweet revenge come back,” read his tweet

It is to be noted that Neeraj Chopra did not take part in the men’s javelin throw event in Commonwealth Games 2022, Birmingham. He was ruled out of the competition due to an injury.

A screenshot of Hamid’s tweet was shared by journalist Naila Inayat.

The tweet has generated a spate of reactions on the internet. Former Indian ceicketer Virendra Sehwag too couldn’t keep himself from sharing the tweet. “Chicha, Ashish Nehra is right now preparing for UK Prime Minister Elections. So Chill,” read Sehwag’s cheeky tweet.

Here’s how the internet reacted to this viral tweet:

However, after the tweet went viral, Zaid Hamid's tweet was withheld.

Neeraj Chopra, the Tokyo Olympics and Commonwealth Games champion from Gold Coast 2018, couldn’t defend his title in Birmingham as he was ruled out due to an injury he sustained during the World Athletics Championships in Oregon last month.
