More than 400 Haj pilgrims have reportedly died in a stampede in Mina, Saudi Arabia. Just two weeks ago, over a hundred people were killed in Mecca when a construction crane fell inside the crowded Grand Mosque.

As the tragedy unfolds, Indian authorities have swung into action. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently touring the United States of America, tweeted condolences to the families of the deceased.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted helpline numbers to reach the Indian mission in Saudi Arabia.

The consulate can also be reached via WhatsApp on 0096612545800. The number 800-2477-786 can be contacted only from inside Saudi Arabia.

The general helpline number of the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Hajj is 800-430-4444.
