Good News Alert! Woman delivers a baby in Ola cab; company gifts free rides for 5 years

A pregnant woman in Pune named Ishwari Singh Vishwakarma became a mother of a baby boy but in a unexpected place. Her experience of becoming a mother was unique as she delivered the baby in an Ola cab while she was on her way to hospital. The incident took place in the morning of October 2.

The driver of the car, Yashwant Galande drove carefully to the Kamala Nehru Hospital in Mangalwar Peth, Pune while Ishwari gave birth to the baby on the backseat of the cab. Ishwari Singh took a cab after she was feeling anxious. Ishwari's husband Ramesh Singh Vishwakarma told The Hindu, "My wife's expected delivery date was October 24 but in the wee hours of October 2, she started experiencing labour pains, so we booked a cab in the morning to go to Kamla Nehru Hospital, and at around 7.20 am, the cab driver arrived for pick up at our residence in Kondhwa area."

He further said, "After travelling four to five kms from home, I got a call from my brother informing me about my wife delivering in the cab.”

The cab driver Yashwant Galande said, “Looking at her situation, I decided not to stop the cab anywhere and continued to drive to the hospital. However, after travelling for hardly four to five kms, the customer delivered the baby in the backseat with the help of her relative.”

As a present, the company Ola have gifted the mother and her child free rides for the next five years. The company also announced the same on their official Twitter account. They tweeted, “Congratulations, it’s a boy! Ishwari delivered a baby in our cab. We’re giving them 5 years worth free rides.”

The company Ola also appreciated and felicitated the cabbie for going one step ahead to help the passenger in need.
